Homeschool Rules

Attention: open in a new window. PrintE-mail

As a member of the Roller Skating Association, International, we have adopted the following rules to improve the safety of our skaters and to articulate the responsibilitites of the host skating rink. Please read them carefully.

GENERAL RULES and GUIDELINES

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE: Roller skating is a strenuous and fast moving sport. By putting on skates and participating in this form of recreation, you are assuming the risk of an accident inherent in this and any similar sport. It is the nature of this recreation that people fall down or run into one another on occasion. If you are not willing to assume that risk, please do not roller skate here. If you doubt your ability to roller skate, please consider this notice before proceeding onto the floor. We can not be responsible for any injuries that occur to our patrons while they are present in this facility.

ALL SESSIONS ARE PROGRAMMED.

EVERYONE MUST CONFORM TO THE PROGRAM AS ANNOUNCED.

MANAGEMENT RESERVES THE RIGHT TO ASK ANYONE TO LEAVE AT ANY TIME. MANAGER'S DISCRETION.

During Homeschool Skate sessions, we do not charge parents or grandparents to be in the building. We do not allow any young people (excepting age three and under) to be in the building without skates on. Most parents appreciate not needing to be concerned about young people who are "Hanging Out."

NO REFUNDS

  • NO CARRYING OR LIFTING CHILDREN WHILE ON SKATES AT ANY TIME!! The death of two children (fortunately, not in Illinois) is sufficient reason to affirm that there are no exceptions to this rule.
  • Everyone must skate in the same direction as announced. Usually, that direction is counter clockwise.
  • Do not cut across the center area of the floor set off by the center-black-line. The center area of the skating floor is for beginner skaters and those practicing backward skating. The pink track lines are for the derby teams and are not to be used to mark the center area.
  • No standing still on the skating floor or by the floor wall. Do not climb over the wall or benches. No sitting on the tables or sidewalls.
  • No pushing, fast skating, playing tag, standing along the wall, or suddenly stopping at any time on the skate floor is permitted as these actions will jeopardize the safety of other skaters.
  • No one is allowed in the skate room (except Homeschool moms during the Homeschool session), behind the counters in the Novelty Shop, behind the snack bar, on the stage, or in the DJ booth.
  • Skaters (and guests) are expected to conduct themselves as Ladies and Gentlemen.
  • All patrons must report any injuries to the management, regardless of the severity.
  • Not responsible for accidents . . . . . Skate at your own risk!
  • If you are pregnant or have a serious medical condition or injury that may be aggravated by exercise, please do not skate.
  • Alcoholic beverages, illegal substances, or anyone under the influence will not be permitted on the premises. We do not confiscate illegal substances, we insist on an arrest.
  • NO PROFANITY OR FIGHTING. Profanity and foul or abusive language or fighting will lead to immediate suspension from the building.
  • No in-and-out privileges. No loitering on the property. Over 15 minutes on the property is considered loitering. Over three penalties is reason for permanent expulsion from the rink and property.
  • All refreshments (food and drinks) must be consumed in the snack bar area.
  • NO GUM CHEWING ALLOWED.
  • The use of cell phones, IPods and the like for talking, texting, music, or video is not allowed on the skating floor. Please keep them in your pocket until you leave the skating floor.

  • NO SOCKS, NO SHOES . . . NO SKATES!
  • Skates intended for toe stops MUST have toe stops or plugs on BEFORE entering the rink. We seek to maintain the condition of our floor by preventing skating plates or frames from digging into the floor. Inline skates (known by some as Rollerblades) and outdoor wheels must be cleaned before entering the rink. Inline skates must have all eight or ten wheels. This helps to protect the plastic coating used on our wood floor.
